The Magic of Stillness…

And magic it is. Today’s post is on my contemplation of the last two weeks worth of practicing stillness with no other intention than BEING.

Last week I felt called to BE. We can get so caught up with doing all the healing things, guided meditations, journaling, visualising, learning, and not to mention all LIFE things that we forget to stop and pause.

Although I practice mindfulness daily I was called to Stillness. Just me and my breath, noticing what comes up, noticing how my body feels, how my heart feels. To be honest it felt uncomfortable. My ego told me you can’t stop healing and you got to learn more. (Thanks ego but I’ve got this)

So stillness is what I did. It was nothing short of magic. And let me tell you first it didn’t include hours of sitting in stillness. This was literally 5-10 minutes a day. I mean that’s doable right?!

I would love to share what has come up for me during these two weeks. (Might be a trigger warning as I speak about mother’s day and the grief that I still carry after our 2 miscarriages.)

Week 1

  • I noticed how I was starting to tense up when it came to posting quite a real and honest post on socials (you can read it here). So I stopped and decided to create safety for myself first. I know what safety feels like to me and so I intentionally created that for me first. Warmth is a big one for me. I feel the safest when I am warm and cozy. I took a shower, I had hubby start a fire for the evening. I made myself some chamomile tea and when I was relaxed on the couch I went ahead and posted the post.

Stillness overflows into our lives and creates a deep inner knowing and awareness when things don’t feel great. We notice right away and we can do something about it.

  • 3 words dropped in ‘The Sacred Pause’ that I feel could either be a live container or a podcast or both. I even wrote an outline of a possible container. Don’t hold me to the name though I still need to do my due diligence. How gorgeous is ‘The Sacred Pause’ though?

Whether you have your own business or in a career Stillness brings clarity. It opens up space in our VERY full mind to explore things, for guidance to come through on the next steps.

If you are on a self-exploration journey Stillness allows for the integration of what we learned and healed. It allows for a mind-body connection which is crucial, especially in this day and age where we’re mostly in our minds. Living on #autopilot

Week 2

  • Stillness allowed for some grief that I thought I processed to come through.

You see I never really acknowledged the sadness that comes for me with Mother’s day. This year it all came through. I was ready to release part of the sadness by just listening and allowing it to come through. (more on this in an upcoming blog post)

  • One evening this week Hubby and I were talking about fishing and the type of person it takes to go out fishing. (He loves it hence why we spoke about it) And it dawned on me I am not that person. I like so many of us are motivated by instant gratification. We want things to happen now, see the results of exercising in just 1 week, and fall pregnant with ease. I want to see my biz flourish straight away.

Here’s the thing when you think about it life is about waiting. I had to wait for the husband of my dreams, it took as close to a decade to work our way back out from severe financial challenges, and our trying-to-conceive journey now going on 11 years. You get the gist?

Stillness allows you to trust and surrender to YOUR life’s timing. It brings you back into the present moment where there’s no worries.

It teaches you to trust YOURSELF and your intuition.

When you trust yourself the world opens up, you don’t look to others for validation, and you stop comparing yourself to everyone on social media.

So for me all this = magic.

And with all that I hope I can inspire you to slow down.

If something speaks to you I want to personally invite you:
