How I Take Care Of Myself When Life Got Heavy

OMFG. What a wild ride, this thing we call life?!

A chapter, one we’ve been living in and with for the past 18 months, came to a sudden and heartbreaking end last week. I knew the energy had been building… but I didn’t expect the rug to be pulled out from under us so abruptly.

And of course, it all landed on the Full Moon in Capricorn, July 10th, 2025.

Was it divine timing? Cosmic closure? I don’t have all the answers. But I know this: it was significant, a soul initiation.

🌕 When the Moon Illuminates the Truth

I’ve come to work with the moon not just for ritual, but as a way to notice what’s being revealed. Full Moons, in particular, shine a light on what’s been simmering under the surface. Patterns. beliefs. attachments. And sometimes… the end of a chapter, you didn’t even know you were still in.

This Full Moon in Capricorn felt especially powerful.

According to the Pattern App, it asked us to reflect on:

  • Our relationship to responsibility
  • Whether we’re committed to something meaningful (even if it takes time)
  • And most importantly: Who is the authority in your life?

It illuminated both sides of Capricorn’s energy:

✨ Where we are committed and dependable
🌑 And where we overextend — becoming martyrs, carrying what was never truly ours to hold

That last one hit home.

Looking back at the past 18 months, I now see where we (my husband and I) gave from a place of deep care but also from old conditioning. That feeling of urgency became ours, even when we had previously said no. Even when the cost to our well-being was quietly mounting.

Out of love, we over-carried.
Out of duty, we overgave.
Out of compassion, we overlooked our own capacity.

And yet this moon asked a new question:

What would it look like to hold that same compassion for yourself?

🌀 Tools That Helped Me Understand What Was Unfolding

When life feels like it’s unravelling in real-time, I turn to the tools that bring me back to center: Astrology, Human Design and the Gene Keys (being some of the tools). These are more than spiritual frameworks for me, they’re maps that help me decode the energy I’m navigating. And last week, they offered clarity I didn’t even know I needed.

Here’s how some of it wove together:

✧ 1. A Capricorn Full Moon Activating My Capricorn Stellium

I have a Capricorn stellium  in my 3rd house meaning 3-4 planets are grouped together in the same zodiac sign. In my case, Capricorn, the sign of responsibility, structure/discipline, and ambition.

This past week’s Full Moon likely directly activated that stellium. It felt like the Universe turned a spotlight on my internal authority system and asked:

“Are you living in alignment with the responsibilities that are truly yours… or are you carrying what doesn’t belong to you?”

That was the moment of clarity.
Because what unfolded next wasn’t just about external events. It was about the quiet pattern underneath it all:
Over-responsibility. Self-sacrifice. The silent pressure to hold it all together.

This chapter of our lives, this 18-month stretch, became a living example of what happens when you override your own needs to meet someone else’s urgency. And when you finally see it, you can’t unsee it.

✧ 2. Third House: Speaking the Unspoken

In astrology, the 3rd house rules communication, family, your daily environment, and the stories you tell yourself (and others).

A Capricorn stellium here can internalize a message that sounds like:

“I must hold it all together. I can’t drop the ball. I should be able to carry this.”

But, through tears, movement, music, words, and silence, I gave voice to what had been unsaid for too long.
This blog post is part of that healing.

I’m rewriting the story in real time.

From silent endurance → to shared reflection
From over-functioning → to honest release
From martyrdom → to grounded responsibility

✧ 3. Gene Key 19.5 Resonance

I’ve been working deeply with my Gene Keys profile, and my Conscious Sun is in Gene Key 19.5, a key that speaks to sensitivity, responsibility, and sacred service.

The shadow of this key is codependence, feeling others’ pain so deeply that we sacrifice ourselves to ease their suffering. Sound familiar?

Combined with Capricorn’s shadow (emotional suppression, martyrdom, and duty without discernment), last week brought me face-to-face with the cost of giving beyond our capacity.
But there’s gold in this, too.

In the higher frequency of Gene Key 19 and Capricorn, we find:

  • Boundaries rooted in wisdom
  • Leadership that nourishes, not depletes
  • The gift of interdependence, giving from a place that honors both self and others

This Full Moon reminded me that sacred service must include yourself.

And that true responsibility begins with discernment, not sacrifice.

💭 How Do You Support Yourself When Life Gets Hard?

That’s the reflection I want to leave with you today.

What parts of life do you focus on when everything feels too much?
And more importantly, how do you hold yourself when it feels like life is asking you to be stronger than you know how to be?

I believe that when life gets heavy, we need extra care.

Extra compassion
Extra grace.
Extra gentleness, the kind that feels like exhaling after holding your breath for too long.

So here’s what helped me this past week, in case it helps you too.

🌿 What Helped Me Through (That Might Help You Too)

This isn’t a how-to guide. It’s a love note.
Shared from a place of peace and deep gratitude.

🎵 Music That Held Me Like a Warm Hug

Sometimes words fail, but music carries us.
These songs didn’t just fill the silence; they gave me something to hold onto. (ps: I’ve linked them for you – you’re welcome. 😉)

Let them meet you wherever you are.

🌙 Astrology Notes That Grounded Me

Chani App — always a soft anchor.  What stood out for me:

  • “Dare to trust the best-case scenario. Let’s cue our imaginations for a different BETTER outcome, for a different story, for a different way of doing us together. because that’s what these time periods are about. Check your vibe.
  • “Remember to supply ourselves with what we need.” When last did you check-in with yourself?

Mia French’s Full Moon in Capricorn email:

  • “You don’t need to prove yourself. You need to honour yourself.”
(You can find her on Instagram here)

Chris Corsini’s Full Moon Reel – Level TF Up

  • “Time to take yourself seriously”
  • “Dive into the depths of releasing all of the bullshit that you’ve carried…”
  • “Take your VISION seriously” – (People might not get it or you, and that’s okay.
Your vision is yours. And the people who cheer the loudest? Keep them close.)

💌 The Healing Power of ‘What If’ Statements

A friend shared the most beautiful ‘What if’ statements last week (Thank you @Joywin.xo) Check out her Reel here. It reminded me of a list I started in July 2024, all about ‘What If’ statements. I had forgotten about it… A nice surprise amid everything.

Now, my list has grown to 41 statements, each one helping me rewrite the spirals of doubt.

I’ll share more about the science soon. But for now, maybe try one of your own? Here are a few:

  • What if it all works out better than expected?

  • What if rest is the most productive thing I can do?

  • What if this breakdown is a new beginning?
